It’s 10 o’clock. do you know where your children are?

It is summer break, and I am darting up to my little studio, down to the basement, out to the garage, or some other corner to make a mess. I have a shadow, her name is Ruby and she is my awesome daughter. She tells me every detail of life as a 13 year old girl.  I am REALLY trying to listen, because she can tell instantly if I am not, which by the way doesn’t stop her.  After a few days of this incessant chatter, a picture begins to form in my head of the absolute insanity that is Tumblr, instagram, and my new favorite ( I hope you know I’m kidding) vine.  There is so much desperation in her generation to be liked, double tapped (I mean come on), followed (ummm creepy) or have little hearts applied to their fish faced pictures.  So we make it a point, to tease and poke around in her business to keep her talking, and humble. And this old school saying “It’s 10 o’clock. do you know where your children are?”  should be updated to “24 hours a freaking day. have you looked at your kids internet photos? or something to that effect. suggestions are welcome.  oh and it helps to force her to do things like this.  before and after. hehehehehe

  1. Good post. I remember seeing commercials just before the 10 o’clock news asking that question. All I could think was, ‘Is this a reminder for some people? Do parents really not know where there kids are right now?’
